I was always going to be charmed by a new range of vintage-inspired glasses named after my very favourite areas of London but last night's London Retro launch came at just the right time; when I'd just found out my Barcelona buys were too fragile to convert into glasses, and when I'm bored to death of my current frames.
I love boys and girls in glasses, but my current frames are too geeky (and not in good way) to get any more than a very rare airing - if I'm wearing them, I'm usually hungover. London Retro turned Zigfrid's basement into a glasses parlour, complete with classic Brit snacks and the whole of their new range for us to try.
Cute, eh? A bit of thought had clearly gone into the names too, from the generic hipster Shoreditch to the nerdcore Portobello. London Retro very generously gave us a pair free (glasses aren't cheap so I think this might be my favourite freebie ever) and I chose the cute as a button Fitzrovia in tortoiseshell:
They also had a photobooth (another brilliant name: The Mighty Booth); here's Caroline No and I trying to do 'nerd faces'. Yeah, we didn't have to try very hard...

ReplyDeleteYou are both most definitely foxes! I cannot wait to get my frames. Ordered them litereally the minute I got through the door! x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. I think a virtual party is a wonderful idea. If I get to choose the perfect party outfit I hope it comes with the perfect party situation - a baby sitter, shaved legs, a blow dry? If not, a maxi dress is a must. Long, flowing, forgiving fabric.
