Bobbin Bicycle Sunday

Like Field Music say,  luck is a fine thing. I'm not even sure I believe in luck (not in the predetermined  bad fortune, rabbit foot round the neck sort of way), even though I've had a fairly lucky week. Luck meaning good news, fun times, tickets booked for an NY break and the best surprise present of my life.

My boyfriend and I are quite different. One of us is tidy; the other isn't. One of us is a frequent flyer, heading to places like Mexico and Bahrain in search of a good story; the other spends most of their time in rainy London. (Clue: that's me.) Regular trips mean regular little gifts, like my panda-print chopsticks from Taiwan, but I didn't realise I'd get a present for going away for work too.

This very cool fluro Vivian Girls t-shirt was my LA gift. Worn with Uniqlo thin knit cardigan, Tatty Devine moustache necklace, New Look skirt and Jones Bookmaker heeled brogues.

But the t-shirt wasn't my surprise present...

I was told something great was coming, but I was still very, very happy to find the cherry red 3 gear Metropole from Bobbin Bicycles in the living room. It's not my birthday. It isn't even the time of year when we first met, or first kissed. It's just a really lovely present. And if that isn't luck, I don't know what is.

Here I am, looking more than a little overexcited before our Sunday bike ride. I would probably have looked a bit less excited if I had known we'd cover almost seven miles that afternoon, from Camden all the way up to Highgate village and back through the Heath.

We stopped for tea and custard tarts in Highgate and I wolfed mine down, peering outside every few minutes like an anxious parent, to make sure my lovely bike hadn't been taken away.

  3. I have the same tee and I absolutely love it. I went all the way to Brooklyn to see the Vivian girls although they weren't selling t-shirts at the gig. I was so disappointed I ordered one via their myspace when I got home, bit of a wait but worth it, it seems to go with everything! You can read more about the gig on my blog here:
